Demon Internet Limited

  Web Publishing Consultant
August 1996 - December 1996

In my final role at Demon Internet, I was responsible for setting up the customer facing web consultancy as part of the company's Corporate Services Division. I was responsible for liaising with clients and establishing their needs, and then coordinating others in the design and implementation of their sites. I was involved in discussions regarding the project at board level.

The most prestigious project was the promotional web site for Samuelson Entertainment's film on the life of Oscar Wilde, "Wilde". I was responsible for all aspects of the site, from the initial concept to final implementation. Since my moving to Virgin Net, however, all responsibility for the site has been passed back to Demon.

Business Sales Assistant/Corporate Account Manager
March 1996 - August 1996

Initially this role was reactive sales to customers enquiring about Demon Internet's Corporate services, such as leased lines and domain registration services.

The role evolved into providing backline support to the Corporate Services department, dealing with leased line customers' requests and problems, and taking calls escalated from the Frontline team. I also provided potential corporate customers with pre-sales technical support and advice.

From time to time I was called upon to provide occasional consultancy to customers. This involed going to customers' premises and setting up and explaining internet access software on a variety of platforms.

Frontline and Backline Technical Support
April 1995 - March 1996

This was my first role within Demon Internet. I started as Frontline Technical Support in a team of between 20 and 32 (depending on staffing levels), providing first point-of-call support to users of dialup internet accounts.

I moved to Backline Technical Support to a support team of 32 people. This involved providing technical assistance to users of dialup internet accounts who had been escalated from the frontline team.
